Weddings & Partnerships, Commitment Ceremonies and Blessings

Your ceremony may take a traditional format or be more unique for you both, but it will be personal and one you can cherish forever. There are no set rules, this is an opportunity for you as a couple to celebrate the love you have for each other and declare your vows to one another, whenever, wherever and however you would like.

A celebrant led ceremony offers an opportunity for you both to include as little or as much religious or spiritual content as you wish. Your ceremony may include music, songs, poetry, readings or hymns that are personal to you both. Family and friends are encouraged to be involved, as much or as little as you both would like in the celebration of your union. Couples with children, either from a previous relationships or their present one, may wish to involve them and many choose the addition of The Unity Sand Ceremony, as an opportunity to rejoice in the family as a whole unit, or the coming together of two families into one. Whether you choose a lavish, extravagant event or an intimate, quiet affair, as a beautiful touch to your special day, you may wish to exchange rings or gifts as symbols of your loyalty and dedication to one another or you may choose to incorporate a special ceremony within your main ceremony, such as: unity candle, rose/flower exchange, unity sand ceremony, loving cup or jumping the broom, to name but a few. Hand fasting is an old Pagan custom, which was traditionally used when two people wanted to publically declare their binding union. After the trial period of a year and a day, the couple would either go their separate ways or enter permanently into marriage. Nowadays, this ceremony can be adapted and combined with a wedding ceremony or commitment ceremony or as part of a renewal of vows.

It’s your day, it’s your choice.

Wedding & Partnership Ceremonies

I will create and deliver a ceremony, which is free from the constraints that traditional ministers, humanist celebrants or registrars must adhere to, a unique and special occasion that includes all the special touches and distinctive qualities that will make it a truly exceptional day. The rudimentary formalities of the legal contract will take place in a registry office at a time convenient for you, leaving you free to celebrate your special wedding day with a ceremony of your choice.

It’s your day, it’s your choice.

Commitment Ceremony or Blessing

For couples, who are not seeking the legal formality of a marriage or civil partnership, but would like to celebrate their love for each other and publically express their feelings for one another in the presence of family and friends, a commitment ceremony or blessing may be your choice of preference. A hand crafted bespoke ceremony, large or small, that embraces the essential elements of your perfect day.

It’s your day, it’s your choice.

Renewal of Vows

Couples choose to renew their vows for many reasons. It may be that you had a registry office wedding, and would now like to have a wedding ceremony of your choice. You may have married abroad, and would like a ceremony that includes your family and friends. You may wish as a couple, to celebrate an anniversary by speaking your vows again to each other. Perhaps your loved one is ill or been through an illness, or as a couple you have been through a difficult time in your relationship, and would like a ceremony to celebrate your love as a couple and reconnect with one another.

It’s your day, it’s your choice.

Tamara Dickson (CCN Cert, RMHN, PTLLS)

With a background in nursing, customer service and experience in counselling, I am aware of the importance of listening. Through my work in healthcare, together with delivering facilitated teaching and training opportunities, I am adept in both writing and public speaking. I was drawn to the work of a Celebrant, when I witnessed first-hand a service officiated by a celebrant, which celebrated the individual and honoured their life, whilst respectfully marking their passing. As an Independent Civil Celebrant, I get immense satisfaction from creating and delivering a ceremony or service, which reflects the individual, couple or family concerned.

“Dear Tamara, I just wanted to say on behalf of myself and my family a very big thank you for the wonderful ceremony last Friday. You did it beautifully and everyone commented on what a lovely speaker you are and how well you came across”
